Conference
2019 China (Suzhou) International Pastel Conference focusing on the theme of ”2030, the future decade of pastel in the world” was succesfully held in Suzhou on October 18th. We invited presidents or representatives of pastel societies from over ten countries, like America, France, Spain, Australia, Canada and Russia.
Speech by Hang Mingshi
There will be two sessions, presentations by representatives of attended pastel societies, and free opinions exchanging between pastelists. the famous Chinese pastel artist Hang Mingshi first gave a speech to the Chinese and foreign guests on behalf of the event organizing committee. He talked about the history of pastel and revisited the frustrations of China Pastel for centuries with the guests.
Conference
Richard McKinley, president of the International Association Of Pastel Societies(IAPS), and Jimmy Wright, president of the Pastel Society Of America(PSA), they expressed regret for not being able to attend the conference on the other side of the ocean, and they also sent a video and letters to congratulate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Chinese pastels.

On this day, Liliane Desmarest, president of the Société des Pastellistes de France, Suzanne Robinson, president of the Australian Pastel Expo, Olga Abramova, president of the Russian Pastel Society, Yang Hui, Executive Chairman of the China Pastel Network. They introduced the development of pastel paintings in their respective countries. Also the artists Cuong Nguyen, Aurelio Rodriguez López, Lyn Diefenbach, Andrew McDermott from different countries share their paintings and ideas. This is a rich and joyful art party.
Party Time
The Conference is sponsored by China Pastel Network (CPN). It is to construct conversations between pastelists from home and abroad to discuss about the development of pastel and painting skill. Through the events, we want to further promote pastel art and explore the possibility of its future development.
